Covid-19 has changed the lives of almost every person. One of the systems directly affected was the education system. Like most other universities, Brandeis University switched to Online Learning. Investing in online learning tools was a key factor for continuing studies. Of course, this is all not as one would have expected their educational semester to be, but still, it proved that technology moves humanity forward. During the second half of the spring semester, technology more than ever proved to be the light of hope for all of us. It kept us connected, informed, and educated.
One lesson well learned from this situation was: Adapt fast. The faster the better. It didn’t take me much time to realize that all my previous plans went in vain and new ones needed to be made. Fortunately, I am a very well-organized and self-disciplined person, therefore it was easy for me to find the motivation to start from scratch. I created my daily routine with a primary focus on university studies and my hobbies such as literature, music (I bought a Ukulele), and sport (I bought a Self-Tennis Trainer). Again, technology, helped me to stay close with people I care about, even though we were distant.
However, I missed a lot of in-person classes, especially for the interactivity and dynamics that can not be totally reflected on an online learning platform. This is a key component that can not be taught in online classes and is crucial for a student’s personality formation. For these reasons, I truly believe that online learning should not be a primary option but a reactive solution.
Stay Safe ?
